Pros: Beats manual toothbrush. Keeps kids motivated to brush their teeth everyday.

Cons: Two double-A batteries. A bit loud.

The Bottom Line: All-in-all, the Crest Spinbrush does beat that non-'lectric manual brush ya'll been usin' most o' yo life. Great brush, but for an extra couple bucks, go for the Spinbrush PRO.

True Blue: (The review, not the brush!!)
…..I finally got sick of writing reviews in black, so I figured I could do it all in blue. Don’t click the text, or it will just bring you back to the top of this review, though out of temptation you probably will. This is because, to make it all blue, it all has to be a link. And even harder to get used to, it is underlined. Enjoy.

Into The Electro World:
.....I have used an average regular non-electric toothbrush for the better part of my life. I haven't used electric toothbrushes much in the past. Just this last Christmas, my gram had gotten me one (what’s she trying to say). I got a blue one. I eventually would have gotten one in the future. But I have one now. They can be purchased at a local Wal-mart or most other stores that sell dental supplies for only four or five dollars.

The Grip:
.....This brush is just a tad bit bigger than your manual toothbrush, or maybe a lot. This is great if you have arthritis or are unable to grip a regular toothbrush. The unit is designed to fit comfortably in your hand as you are using it. There are raised bumps where your thumb goes, right above the switch. All-in-all, I think that this toothbrush is a solid piece of construction for being four dollars. The Spinbrush comes in kid and adult sizes. So your kids can join in on the fun but not have to hold a toothbrush bigger than their hand can hold.
.....Also, the Spinbrush isn't heavy like some competitors out there. I'd say it weighs about as much as the two double A batteries in it. The unit altogether with the batteries and the toothbrush weighs about four ounces.

The Doing:
…..To use the Spinbrush, just plot a normal amount of toothpaste on the bristles and start-a-brushin’. I like this brush because you can get the backs of those pesky bottom front teeth without moving your brush. I found that to be quite hard when using a non-electric brush because it was a completely hard position to do. It also does the far back teeth well without causing the gagging problem, which my grandmother and I both tended to have. And when you’re done brushing you teeth, you can turn it off and use it to brush your tongue. This helps to reduce greatly the bad breath-causing bacteria.


Noise
.....The Spinbrush registers in at approximately 157 decibels. Just kidding, I really couldn't tell how many it is. The Crest Spinbrush is not loud enough that it would wake the household, but it isn't necessarily quiet enough to overhear it. On a noise level of one to five, I give this brush a three. It is in fact quieter than other brushes, more expensive models to boot. However, I can't say that it is near as quiet as your non-electric brush. When you are in the bathroom with the door closed, the Spinbrush sounds like it would be loud enough to be heard in an adjacent room. Trust me, it can't be heard too loud to wake you up. I have a door from my room to a bathroom and a door to the hallway, so I’m not the only one to use it. And we live in a small apartment. When my mom first bought a Spinbrush (she has the Spinbrush PRO, but the same), she would try to be quieter by just pulsing it by pressing the button and letting it go a hundred times, thinking that it would be quieter. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT, because I can tell you that that will wake up someone as in comparison to holding the button in.

Da Tippy Top:
.....This is really the only part that differs the Spinbrush from the Spinbrush PRO. In the Spinbrush PRO, the head is removable. This is great if you have other people in your family that can use the same brush. Or if you use it alone, it is great to change heads every three months in stead of buying a new unit.
…..But with this brush, the head isn’t interchangeable. From the neck up, the Spinbrush is quite similar to that of a manual toothbrush. The neck is a skinny shaft from the wide body to the moving head. The tip has two parts: a fixed section and a circular moving section. The fixed part is similar to a regular toothbrush. The bristles the same color as your toothbrush with a white outline. The bristles are also soft, so they won’t wear your teeth, but won’t last as long. They will last as long as you don’t press to hard, which you won’t have to do because the spinning part does most of the work. The bristles on the moving part have a different color scheme as the fixed ones ( or they do on mine).
…..Now about the spinning head. Now, aside from the belief that that spinning part spins in a circle round and round, wrong. The bristles move ninety degrees to the left, then up and ninety degrees to the right. So the moving part only moves halfway around a goes back the other direction. This happens so fast that is seems to just go around in circles. You can see the motion with a high-capacitor strobe light. But anyways, back on topic. The moving head is about a third inch wide and does most of the brushing. The spinning motion is better for your teeth but is very hard to accomplish with a manual brush.

The Power House:
…..This unit runs on two AA batteries. Though you may think that these won’t last long, think again. They will last for at least a year. If they should go dead, just through two Duracells in it and its good to go for a while.

Power On –N- Off:
…..And last, of course, is the power switch that makes this machine fire up. The power switch is a small protruding button that sticks out just under the raised bumps where the thumb goes. To turn the brush on, just press this button and hold it. Or if you are one of those people who do actually brush your teeth for two minutes, you can press the button down and push it forward to lock it in the ON position.

In he End:
…..The Spinbrush beats a manual toothbrush in all ways. You will feel a difference the first time you use it. And for four bucks, you can’t complain. But, I suggest that you just pay two more dollars and get a Spinbrush PRO with the changeable heads. Thanks for reading the first TRUE BLUE REVIEW.
