Yes, and, as usual, the book is better, but the movie looks very good.
I'm hoping you're going to write a geneal Ecuador review or some destination ones.

Visually striking counts for something, even if the richness of the book (or I could say "books") doesn't transfer to screen. (Speaking of transfers, the transfer of images to DVD is excellent.)

The book... (Reply to this comment)

....has long been a favorite of mine. It helped to convince me how geography and environment could "make" a writer. Although the film wasn't quite a successful for me, I enjoyed having images to connect with the book, and it was amazing how Rawlings vivid imagination could take these circumstances and events and use them to create unforgettable stories. I like this movie a lot - and until this minute, had forgotten it completely. Thanks for reminding of it.

Stephen,
A little friendly competition never hurts. I followed your lead in writing a review on "Islands In the Stream." There's so little income share available in movies anyway, I don't think it's much of an issue. Nice job. Sheila

FAUN - Any of a group of rural deities represented as having the body of a man and the horns, ears, tail, and sometimes legs of a goat.
FAWN - A young deer.

I've wondered about this one since I saw Steenburgen in Dead of Winter and researched her for my review. SAY, isn't it 'fawn'? A faun I thought was something supernatural. I'll look it up.
Great review, btw.
