sidamo's Full Review: Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Coffee Maker
Bought this coffee maker after the carafe of my KitchenAid
Ultra broke, and could not get a replacement. Compared to the KitchedAid this coffee maker fails in many areas. First and foremost, coffee grounds end up in the water tank if you try and brew a 10-12 cup pot. Never had to worry about this with the KitchenAid. It took me close to 30 mins to clean the unit in preparation to return it to the store. I know this overflow of coffee grounds has to do with using fresh home roasted coffee, but it is a problem for me.
The second problem was weak coffee. Using the same 11 scoops for a 10 cup pot the coffee from the Cuisinart was much weaker than from the KitchenAid. This means I would have to use more coffee with the Cuisinart, which is more
expensive and would cause even greater overflow of coffee
grounds into the water tank.
The third problem with this machine is that there is not a
model available without all the bells and whistles. I do not need a timer and auto shut off and whatever else it does. I am paying for something I do not use.
