rpoythress's Full Review: Cuisinart DCG-12BC Electric Blades Grinder
I received my Grind Central as a Birthday gift 7 months ago. I have used it almost every day since receiving it and am pleased with the ease of use and ease of cleaning.
It is attractive stainless steel with plastic top and is quieter than other coffee grinders I have had or seen at friends houses. If you want coffee ground very fine or Espresso grind, you might want to look for a burr type grinder - Cuisinart makes on of those that is priced similarly to this one, but I have never used it. . . only discovered it recently when looking online for information about whether my blades needed to be sharpened or replaced.
To grind fine, I just grind longer, and that seems to work fine. After grinding, some coffee is caked below the blades and I have never inspected it, but I would assume it is not as finely ground as that loose coffee above the blades.
It is very easy to load, use and empty. I was afraid it would be time-consuming but it is not. After use, the stainless steel bowl is virtually clean, so I don't feel too bad if I choose not to bother washing it for a few days.
It comes with a handy plastic lid much like a coffee can lid that snaps over the bowl to keep ground coffee fresh. The only real con to the whole thing is that if you have that lid on the bowl, the plastic top will not fit down around it. So, if I ever store ground coffee in the bowl, I just remove the bowl from the grinder, which is very easy to do. It just turns about 15 degrees counter clockwise and lifts right off.
