jarobe3's Full Review: Cuisinart DGB-500 12-Cup Coffee Maker
For my money this is one great coffee pot. Programmable hot plate turns off from right after brew to 4 hours. Setting it to 1 hour keeps coffee hot long enough & doesn't burn the brew. Coffee made in this Cuisinart poured into a cup and reheated later in the M/W is acceptable. So we save the whole pot that's not used from the morning. Certainly better than instant. Grind and Brew doubles as a standby alarm clock. You can hear the 'binford' grinder really wind up. This baby works. Grinds all the beans and pushes them into the basket flawlessly. The brewski heater pumps steamy hot water into the gold filter basket to extract one mighty fine brew of coffee. Clean up is like nurturing a finely tuned machine. It's a work of mechanical art. Easy to remove the parts, rinse, let air dry and reload for the next day. Wish I though of the design. Makes me want to buy a coffee bean roaster next. The carafe is the best one I ever owned. It don't spill all over the place when pouring even with a shakey hand. I bought the black unit. Hides finger prints. That's practicle. Would you buy a white power saw? .... not. Wife thinks it goes with the other appliances so I made out OK and have a great coffee maker.
