rnelson61's Full Review: Cuisinart DGB-600 10-Cup Coffee Maker
We bought this machine before I read all of the negative reviews on this site. After using it every day for the last three weeks, I can say that I am baffled by these negative reviews. There is either a conspiracy against this coffeemaker or there are a great number of lazy people out there.
I set this up to run every morning. It takes about two minutes to rinse out (no soap) the two grinder components, the mesh basket, the cover for the basket, and the carafe. It takes maybe another 30 seconds to pour in the water and put in the beans. Big deal. And after this effort, I get great tasting coffee, on time, with absolutely no leaking or mess. Compared to our previous coffeemakers that did not have a grinder and did not use a thermal carafe, this one is far superior. This process is no less work and no more messy than using a separate grinder and pouring the grounds into the basket.
I can only conclude that the people that end up with leaks and a mess are not doing something right when they put in the components. Perhaps they should read the manual or leave this task to someone else.
The only criticism of this unit is the price. We bought it because of the convenience and because we are remodeling the kitchen with a lot of stainless. It does look good. But it really is far more expensive than it should be. Maybe if other companies would put out a similar product at a more reasonable price, the price would come down. However, until that time, I expect that it will remain at this inflated price.
