vaniteux's Full Review: Cuisinart DGB-600 10-Cup Coffee Maker
We bought this model for ourselves for Christmas, hoping that we could enjoy some nice coffee. We liked the idea of this machine, as it had a nice grinder and a thermos style carafe (no burnt coffee!). Our first complain about this machine came a few minutes after plugging it in for its first use. The controls can be a little confusing, as the buttons are quite sensitive, and if you put a part in wrong, it continuously beeps at you, and doesn't stop even after fixing the problem. We had to unplug the machine to make it stop beeping. Our second problem with the machine is the design of the carafe. Rarely were we able to pour a cup of coffee without it spilling everywhere. They should have put a little more thought into designing the spout: it seems to be too flat and causes the coffee to pour out in a funny way, rather than a nice stream.
And then ... to make things worse ... the grinder just stopped working after a few days, for absolutely no reason we could think of. We thought maybe a part was loose and tried everything we could think of, but finally had to return the machine. After a few days of searching for a similar product (with a grinding component and themos-style carafe) we opted to buy the same model, hoping that our first was just a lemon. To make a long story short, our new machine lasted about 2 months before the same thing happened: the grinder just stopped working. It was too late for us to return the second one, so we just threw it away. Big waste of money!
