Cons: Super messy, grinder sticks, basket pops open, too much trouble.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this product. Buy one with the grinder separated from the basket so the steam doesn't make a huge mess every time you use it.
alliep78's Full Review: Cuisinart DGB-600 10-Cup Coffee Maker
In theory, this coffeemaker seems terrific in that all you have to do is put the beans in the grinder, set it at night for the morning or start it right there, and you have a perfect cup of coffee. Unfortunately, reality is that any time you save grinding in an external grinder and transferring the grounds to the basket is far outweighed by the DAILY cleaning that this machine requires, and the serious design flaws that make me want to toss it but for the money I spent on it.
I first got it as a gift in 2002. My main complaints from the first time I used it were the fact that the carafe didn't pour right and ended up leaking down the side and all over the counter, every single time. The cleaning is a bear: condensation goes through the passage where the grinds shoot out, then into the grinder, making a muddy mess after each cycle. This means that you have to clean it out every single day, making a mess of towels, your counter, and your hands. Shortly after I purchased the machine, the grinder stopped working. I talked to the Cuisinart people, who said that if I paid for the shipping, they would replace it. I should have just gotten a Mr. Coffee at this point, but I sent it back because it was almost brand new, and got a new one.
Now, the same problems are haunting me, except now the grinder sticks in the well, making it necessary for me to have pliers handy to get the thing out for its daily cleaning. Also, the basket has popped open numerous times, usually in the middle of brewing, leaving me with a huge coffee mess all over the counter and the floor.
The only good thing about this coffeemaker is that it makes a good cup of coffee and it keeps the coffee warm for hours without burning it.
