The Bottom Line: This machine scares me. I cringe when I hear it go off (from a floor away). I wonder if OSHA will allow this in the work place. VERY LLOOUUDD!!!!
phlying1's Full Review: Cuisinart DGB-600 10-Cup Coffee Maker
We bought this machine because we were tired of the mess the grind and transfer process made. This coffee maker solves that problem, but creates several new ones. For example, the grinder needs to be washed daily, in addition to the obvious parts such as the pot and the filter, but you also need to wash the filter holder, which is 2 additional parts. In all, you need to wash 7 different pieces of equipment on a daily basis.
The worst part about this machine is the noise. I cringe every time the thing goes off, or if I turn it on manually, I push the button and run. It is clearly audible a floor away and for the first week I wondered whether the tornado sirens were going off or coffee was on the way. The grind function is extremely loud and seems to go on forever. I haven't timed it but I think it is around a minute, maybe longer. I would love to take a noise reading to see how many Dbs this thing pumps out.
The coffee: seems to be hotter than our last one, which is good, and brews fairly consistently. The end result is good but you may be sacrificing your hearing for it.
I don't know the solution but I am thinking of hooking it up to the lamp post by the driveway and grabbing a cup on the way out.
