The Bottom Line: Leave it. Cuisinart needs to throw out this design and rethink what they are doing. There are other units out there that are superior for less money.

I bought this 2 years ago based on its name. My mistake. Usually Cuisinart is a good brand name. This time they missed the ark badly. Before I start with the long laundry list of what I dislike I will list the positive. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for a long time.
That said, the carafe leaves a lot to be desired. The fill valve tends to stick sending your hot coffee all over the counter. Using it to pour water in to the reservoir usually results in a puddle of water left behind. It is also a slow pourer into your cup. Lets talk noise, when it turns on the noise is only surpassed by the noise level from my teenage sons stereo. It has woken everyone in the house on more then one occasion. Cuisinart have done an outstanding job of over engineering a simple premiss. The number of parts needing attention prior to use is mind numbing. 2 piece grinder with complicated shapes that have to be cleaned and dried prior to use. Quick note here every thing has to be bone dry to stand a chance. The grinder is the bane of this unit. The bean capacity does not lend itself to making a strong pot and usually at least a full table spoon of coffee is wasted there, the grinder forces grounds out through a screen and drops through a small opening into the brew basket. Again any moisture in this area results in a coffee clog that once more results in wasted coffee. I have to say I am not impressed with this item and I have ordered the replacement parts to put my old grind and brew maker back in service.
