Pros: Simple to use. Inexpensive in cost.
Cons: Need to freeze bowl overnight. Doesn't freeze well. Noisy.
While it was simple to use and very inexpensive, I found that the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker did not produce an ice cream that met my standards for good ice cream. I used a recipe found in the included booklet for Chocolate Ice Cream.
Once I made the mixture I refrigerated the it overnight as well as freezing the bowl from the machine for 12 hours. I then poured the cold mixture into the frozen bowl and turned the machine on. It was noisy. And within the 35 minutes suggested by the manufacturers booklet the ice cream was still soupy and not edible except with a straw. I tried a second time turning the temperature of my freezer down and while it did get thicker it still never even got to soft ice cream stage. It was more like a good milk shake consistency. Then when I put it into the freezer to "ripen" and it just became grainy in texture.
I chose this machine because I liked it small size, stainless steel exterior and reasonable price. It did look nice in the kitchen and took up only a small amount of counter space.
I owned an expensive Simac machine for years and it just doesn't make good ice cream any more. But it still works better than this one.
