I had no idea what that meant. But I do not have the dark color. Is that coming next. I am in Los Angeles so who knows.
I know I do not have 2000 for a system and I live in a rental house/duplex and wanted to say something to the landlord but embarassed due to the smell.
Now I know I can tell him about it and see what he can do.
thanks for the lesson

After reading this I called my local Culligan rep about the product you described. He asked where I lived and told me that this might not work for me, but suggested some others. He was very helpful and had good information.

CULLIGAN'S SUPER S TANK DOESN'T WORK! (Reply to this comment)
by mtrn3337
I live in a rural area of NY and have a well for my residence. Upon moving into this house 6 years ago, I realized I needed some sort of water filtration system as my water was discolored and smelly. The previous owner had installed a UV light to kill bacteria, so I knew I couldn't get sick from the water. But, I couldn't stand to brush my teeth, bathe, or make coffee with it. I purchased what was recommended by a local water conditioning company, a system that oxidized the sulfur in my water.
This oxidizing system seemed to work well and I only noticed discolored or smelly water when I needed to backwash the system or change a cartridge on an additional filter that was here when I moved in.
Well, after 5 years, this system apparently became overwhelmed and quit working. (I had no clue that the tanks could be cleaned.) Anyway, knowing I needed some sort of water treatment system in my home, I called a familiar name. I called Culligan. The nightmare begins.
On May 10, 2004 a local Culligan Dealer based out of Bradford, PA came to my home and tested my water. He told me exactly what I already knew; sulfur .5 parts per million. He recommended and guaranteed that Culligan's Super S could and would remove the discoloration (black-from sulfur) and the smell (also from sulfur) from my water. I gave culligan my credit card and they installed a Super S system on May 12, 2004. The nightmare begins.
The Super S that was installed has not worked one day since being installed in my home! Upon completion of installing the product, the technician told me to give it a "day or two" to start cleaning the water. He told me that it also was necessary to "flush the lines". So, I waited. I waited over the weekend, ( I had a large family gathering that weekend and used much more water than usual) thinking all that extra usage would definitely "flush the lines".
The following week I Called my Culligan Man. Well, did you know that if you live in a Rural area, you can't make an appointment with a Service Technician? That's right, they tell you "When a Service Technician will be in your area". Well, 2 months later and $2,400.00 of my money and countless days lost at work (7 service calls now), the SUPER S FROM CULLIGAN STILL DOESN'T WORK!
The last technician to work on my system (only a few days ago) not only added a huge industrial looking extra filter (20" Big Blue- DGD-2501) in front of the super S, but he also replaced the copper pipes from the well to the Super S and from the Super S to the filters (said something about a chemical reaction between my water and copper pipes). I still can't help but wonder; if the Super S can and will clean my water, why did they install another filter as well? Well, he was at a loss when after all his hard work he ran some water out of the new Big Blue filter and saw it was STILL DISCOLORED BLACK AND STILL SMELLED BAD!
When I asked him, "Where do we go from here"? His reply was "I don't know". I asked if I should call the office on Monday (as this was Friday afternoon) and he replied; "Well, Monday's are pretty busy with emergency calls from over the weekend". I was amazed at his response as this company knows exactly how fed up I am with their product and especially their service. when I asked what was considered an emergency, he explained: free flowing water that can't be shut off. Ok, I'll agree with that definition of an emergency, but doesn't a dissatisfied customer with a product that doesn't do what it was guaranteed to do rate any higher on the list than say bottled Water Delivery? The technician took a sample of the newly filtered water and left. Here I sit with black and stinky water still.
I know what you're thinking, I already contacted the Headquarters for this company, they made a phone call, but so far that seems to be it. I was told that they don't "get involved" with their franchisee's. I told them, they needed to do something because it was their name on the product, to which I received the reply of "So".
So, now, I am doing the only thing I feel left I can do, (besides buying bottled water at Walmart, because not one of my 3 dogs will drink this water). I'm spreading the word of how terrible of a job this product did for me and my water. I'm making sure I tell my family, friends, friends of friends and anyone on the entire Internet about the Super S tank and how it DOESN'T WORK! BOTTOM LINE, IF YOU'RE RURAL, STAY AWAY FROM CULLIGAN SERVICE! BETTER YET, STAY AWAY FROM CULLIGAN ALTOGETHER!
