A few months ago, I read an amazing review by another Epinions member about Curel Ultra Healing lotion and it sounded like something that I, and my daughter, needed to try. Immediately. Our hands at that point were so dry and painful, and nothing we used seemed to be working. So off to the drugstore, went I.
One of the first things that I noticed on the bottle is that it states that the lotion is dermatologist tested – that is a big plus for my family because a few of us have sensitive skin that can become irritated by certain ingredients.
The lotion itself is very light and iridescent. It packs a lot of moisture so looking at it you think that it’s going to be kind of greasy, but it’s not. The bottle says it is “velvety in feel” and that is no exaggeration.
We used a portion about the size of a nickel, going overboard I thought, but we were so desperate for relief that I didn’t care if we had to wipe off any excess. I began to rub it into my skin and within just a few seconds, the lotion had been completely absorbed and, I kid you not, the relief was immediate. Since my hands were so dry, I used a bit more and that was absorbed just as quickly. The relief in my daughter's eyes was enough for me... from that moment on, my search for the perfect lotion had ended.
There isn’t much of a scent – a very light, citrus aroma can be detected at first, but that also disappears very quickly. There is no lingering scent so you can be assured that it won’t clash with anything else that you’ve sprayed or splashed on during your personal routine. My husband, who also uses the Curel lotion, appreciates that because he doesn’t want to go to work with flowery-scented hand lotion following him everywhere!
Something that I found to be welcome is that this lotion, while not waterproof, seems to stay on when my hands are in water. It does eventually disappear, but it’s not immediate. That’s a comfort to chapped hands, to have some protection at least for a while little while when you’re doing a chore that is water related. This may be the effect of the 24-hour sustained protection. In fact, I can feel a very light “coating” of the lotion for quite some time after it is absorbed. It’s not enough to annoy me or make me feel like there’s a mask-like covering on my hands, but it is nice to have that protection around for a while.
The Curel Ultra Healing lotion can be used on those driest of places, like elbows and feet. I also use it on my legs and knees. The bottle says that it’s safe enough to use on your face because it won’t clog pores – and I will tell you that I’ve never used it on my face because I feel that I don’t need it. I would be very curious to know about any experiences of someone using it on their face, but I’m not going to test that out. I just don’t need to.

If for some reason you aren't satisfied with the lotion, Curel has a guarantee: If you're not happy, return the unused portion for a full refund. It's that simple. But I don't anticipate doing that, and I don't think anyone else will, either!
Final Thoughts…
Yes, my search for the perfect lotion has ended and I’m thrilled. My hands are soft, as are my elbows, arms, legs, knees and feet. My husband uses the lotion for his hands and he’s very happy with the results.
I’ve sent the Curel Ultra Healing lotion in a care package to my friend’s son who is in the USAF because he’s in such dry heat for hours on end. At first he was like, “Oh. You sent me lotion. Um, thanks, Sunni.” But then he used it on his very dry hands and even his dry, cracked feet and he is sold on it; in fact, he took it to his job one day and after some ribbing, his fellow Airmen used it and now they’re hooked! So, hey Curel… you did good!
Curel Ultra Healing lotion is an intensive moisture lotion that will hydrate your skin and heal it. It stays with you for 24-hour protection that can’t be beat. I will buy it forever, and continue to put it into gift baskets for friends so that they can spread the word.
