| MississippiMom's Full Review: Cutco Kitchenette Knife Set |
Fourteen years ago my daughter had received a set of the Cutco Kitchenette Knives as a Bridal shower gift. Today this set of knives is still just as sharp as they were 14 years ago. Not once has she had to have them replaced or sharpened.
If in the years to come she is not completely satisfied with the performance or is in need of a replacement all she would have to do is contact the Cutco company. I say this because Cutco knives stand behind their Forever satisfaction guarantee. According to their policy, if you are Not Completely Satisfied with the performance they will either replace or correct the problem. The Forever Sharpness Guarantee claims the knives are made with a Double-D edge that will remain sharp for many years, but may need sharpening. Well after 14 years of constant use, her set still cuts through vegetables and frozen meats with ease.
Looking up information to give as much accuracy to my review on this product, I had learned that there is a S/H fee that is applied to any replacement or sharpening.
Luckily for us we live 20 miles from the Cutco manufacturing plant and store, therefore, we would save on the replacement shipping and handling charges if we brought the knives into their store. The cost according to their web page is $6.00 for 1-3 items. or $9.00 for 4 or more. It also states that if you misuse or abuse your Cutco knives they will replace them for a charge of 1/2 of the current retail price plus S/H and taxes. I cant imagine how or why anyone would want to abuse their knives and if they did would you actually admit to it.
With her set came a white holder made of a durable hard plastic, that she has hanging on her kitchen wall. It has slots that the blades slip into and a lip that hold them into place.
Her set included:
Turning Fork that measures 10 7/8 that has 3 prongs that we use for everything from cooking bacon to testing our roasting potatoes or serving our sliced Roast Beef. I like the sleek design of the handle and that it has a non slip grip, I find that the handle doesnt get hot when using it to turn the meats as they cook.
Trimmer which is the most used knife in her set. The blade is 4 3/4 long and with the handle it measures 10 overall. Again the design of the handle is a plus. It has a slight curve that fits perfect in your hand with a non slid grip. We use this for slicing all our vegetables. The only time this knife is Not Used in our home is when we eat out. I love this utility knife the most and is what prompted me to write the review on Cutco knives. You would not believe the things we have cut with this knife over the years. I have cut through Frozen meats with this knife and I can go into the kitchen right now and still slice a tomato without it squishing all over the cutting board. It will still slice it paper thin. I also use it for slicing onions, squash, mushrooms, carrots you name it we have sliced it. It has never dulled!
Bread Knife has a 9 3/4" blade that measures 15 3/8" overall
The Paring Knife has a 2 3/4" blade that measures 7 5/8 overall we mainly use this for peeling apples and cucumbers and such for dicing.
The Carver has a 6 3/4" Blade that measures 121/2" overall. This knife is wonderful for carving roasts and poultry. It carvers through any cut of meat easily without leaving a jagged edge.
Each of these knives in this Kitchenette set are well designed, very durable and have given my daughter many years of use.
She had received her set as a Shower gift 14 years ago so I am not sure how much this set had cost back then nor do I know what this set sells for today, but whatever the price I would say it is well worth the investment for a set of Kitchen knives that will last you a lifetime. This set of Cutco Knives get a firm 5 Stars from this MississippiMom.
If you are interested in owning one good set of knives in your lifetime then I would Highly Recommend looking into Cutco Knives.
