DenimDude's Full Review: DB8 Multidirectional Hdtv Antenna
The Terrestrial, model # DB-8, outdoor antenna brings you excellent reception and is fairly easy to assemble with the included wing nuts and mounting hardware.
As we live between the coastal cities of West Palm Beach and Miami, we simply set up our antenna facing north and south. We chose to mount it on five, 5-foot sections of antenna mast poles available at our local Home Depot store. We also purchased the connecting cable from Radio Shack. The antenna comes with two mounting brackets for the pole, and we anchored the pole to the trim of the house.
To my surprise, nearly all channels came in, crystal clear, and then I found out that we had at least 8 sub-channels that I later programmed into our Microsoft Media Center TV Program Guide.
By adding a TV tuner card to our computer, and connecting the Terrestrial DB 8 antenna to our Windows Media Center PC, we now can pause and record, live, High-Definition TV from our XBox extender in the living room.
What is amazing is that the new, free, Digital TV signals that are now being transmitted are soooooo much sharper than the signals our satellite service provides.
Did you know that Satellite and Cable companies compress your local channel signals, leaving decoding software to fill-in missing data based on sheer probability?
The true, over-the-air DTV signal that the loca stations now provide do not compress any part of the signal, leaving nothing to chance but High Definition, crystal clarity.
With the DB 8 antenna, our over-the-air reception of the new DTV (DTV transmissions includes HDTV signals, and we are definitely talking HDTV signals here)...I got lost...oh yes...our free DTV channels are much, much sharper than what our satellite company provides. On the same television set receiving signals from both satellite and free Digital TV Terrestrial DB 8 signals, the uncompressed and free DTV signals are most noticable clearer.
Also, I never realized that we were missing the wonderful programs that our local Public Television stations provide.
See what you've been missing in detail and programs when you receive excellent, local, HDTV reception that the Terrestrial, DB 8 outdoor antenna provides.
With an approximate 13.7 dB gain, it is one of the strongest multi-directional antennas available and performs consistently across the entire UHF spec...More at SolidSignal.com
