elvisdo's Full Review: DC Universe Justice League Action Figure Saturn Gi...
Ever since the Legion of Super-Heroes four-pack was announced for the Justice League Unlimited toy series, it was a given that the three founding members would be part of that set. As one of the three, Saturn Girl is the team's resident telepath and definitely not one to be underestimated at all.
Irma Ardeen comes a native of Titan, one of Saturn's moons, where everyone has the ability to communicate through telepathy. No thought is safe from this open society. Irma decided that she wanted to use her ability for the good of humankind and applied to become a member of the Science Police. En route to her destination on Earth, she and two other teenagers thwarted an assassination attempt on billionaire R. J. Brande. Impressed with their skill and courage, Brande encouraged the trio to form a group to utilize their powers. Inspired by the exploits of the 20th Century hero known as Superboy (Superman as a teenager), the three teenagers founded the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Saturn Girl is outfitted in a uniform that closely resembles what she wore during the Silver Age era. Her original costume was a yellow and green dress, but that was quickly changed to the red body suit she now sports. On her chest is an insignia of the planet Saturn making her easily identifiable. I'm glad she is wearing her classic colours as it is the most recognizable.
As common with all Justice League Unlimited figures, only five points of articulation is available. It is a bit more frustration with female figures, however, and Saturn Girl proves why this is so. Because of her long, blonde hair, which flows down to the small of her back, neck movement becomes very limited. She can only move her head to a small degree.
Her boots also have a high heel making it very impossible for her to stand under her own power. Luckily, a clear plastic stand is included with Saturn Girl to help prop her up as it is attached by a peg to the hole of her foot.
I do love the details in her face and this is always a hit or miss with female figures. Sometimes it looks like they have a really bad makeup day and other times it looks like a professional worked on their faces. I can say the latter holds true with Saturn Girl. Her eyes in particular are striking and definitely stand out.
Saturn Girl is part of the Legion of Super-Heroes four-pack set that is only available through MattyCollector.com for $30.00 but the figures are still packed individually. This is an ongoing program as part of the "Fan Collection" that is keeping this toy series alive.
No team is complete without a strong-willed, independent female in its roster and Saturn Girl fits the billing. And trust me, there is no way to hide things from her because she is really the human lie detector come to life.
