I recently purchased this router as a back up to my current network router. I had a Linksys WRT54G router running a web server, a SQL Server, Network printer, Regular PC, and a couple wireless clients. This was all connected through a 4MB link to the internet. The traffic on the network is typically quite heavy between the external web requests and the internal SQL Server requests. As I said earlier I bought the DIR 615 as a backup that would only be used in the event of the main router crashing.

I decided to test the current router's performance with the DIR 615 to see if it was as good as the Linksys. The results were that it was just as good in every category as the Linksys and acutally better in some. It handled the internal network traffic better than the Linksys with higher throughput (must have better routing capabilities). The internet throughput was the same between the routers but there was one major feature that I really loved..... The dynamic DNS service!!
This router will contact my domain name provider and update my IP to them if the external IP changes!! This is usually handled by software residing on the server but now it is taken care of by the router. Very cool.
The web interface is also much faster than the Linksys. I did not use the install CD at all that came with the router but I did apply the newest firmware before configuring the router manually.
Bottom line is that if you know about networking this little router can handle quite a bit of traffic without any fuss. I highly recommend it! (The Linksys WRT54G is a good router too but I am now using the DLink as the primary for my network)
