ierne's Full Review: Daughter of the Shining Isles (Cunningham, Elizabe...
Daughter of the Shining Isles was the first fiction I had read in months. As a reviewer, I usually tend to read more non-fiction, spirituality based items, and felt this was an excellent change of pace.
It's plot, history and subject are engaging, and although some people may find offence at the idea that Jesus spent time in a Druid college on the Isle of Mona, or that Mary Magdalene was in fact the daughter of the mythical women of Tir Na Ban, who was also attending the college, I find it an excellent, if possibly fictional explanation for the missing years of his life not depicted in the bible.
I can't imagine the time and effort Ms.Cunningham must have placed into this book, however she certainly brought a wonderful story to us all. I can't wait to see the next installment in the trilogy!
