hofe_dlofret's Full Review: Day-Timer Zebra Expandz Pen Blue
Size: (Length): Of course this pen is smaller than other pens you will see, but that is what is so amazing about the deceptive beauty of this pen. It looks so small but then extends to about double its size. This can be either a great blessing or a curse for pen users, it all depends on your hand size. People with larger hands may not like this pen because it could be a bit awkward, but those of you with smaller hands will love how it fits perfectly into your hand. (Width): In regards to the width of the pen as the pen is extended, it doesn't change hardly at all. When you extend the pen its inner part is slightly less wide than the rest of the body, but only by a fraction. It is as wide as any average sized Bic that you can buy. If you have a job that requires a lot of signing, writing, and what not, anything that requires you to carry a pen, this is a pen that you will love. It fits in any pocket perfectly and writes just the same as any pen you will use. One word of caution: If you lose things easily like me, you will want to keep an eye on this pen so you don’t misplace it. Weight: For how small it is, the telescopic zebra has a good amount of weight to it. It’s not heavy by any means, but well-balanced and easily manageable. Refills: This pen has a daintier refill than the regular F-301 or F-304 models but the font size is still the same 0.7 mm tip. One of the downsides to the pen is that refills only come in ball-point style. For those of you who prefer gel pens you may be better off buying the F-301 or F-304 model that come with both options. Colors: A great thing about these pens is the diversity in color. Whether you like blue, red, maroon, black, or pink there are a lot of options for anyone with any color preference. Maybe you could get one that matches the color of your eyes? Who knows?
Durability: This pen is a lot more durable than I thought it would be. It’s an absolute tank when it’s not extended. But I have found that when you extend the telescopic body it can come out too far if you aren’t careful and when that happens you might have a problem on your hands, but don’t panic it’s a problem with a quick fix. That is the only big nuisance that can really occur that I noticed. Otherwise, you have nothing to worry about!
Writing: Obviously the most important part about owning a pen is not just how it looks or how it fits in your hand but, of course, how it writes. I have only seen the pen write in black or blue ink, and it writes like a champ. Its a very smooth writing experiance. It doesn't bleed through the pages you are writing on, it doesn't write blotchy, and has a very even flow as you write a letter or sign any document.
