ah shelly,
thank you for a great review on a great album. i'd actually forgotten about it (sorry!) for a bit, but now i've got 'teenage riot' running through my head, and it'll probably get stuck there for the entire day - if not more.
it'll take a teenage riot just to get me out of bed today...
thank you for recognizing the genius of this album. and out of curiosity, what did you think of Dirty? i've always loved it, but not all SY fans feel the same (probably the whole 'major label' thing.
nonetheless, well done as always.
take care,
chad.

Thanks for the comments. I understand your POV. I've run into the same thing with other bands and wondered why people like them at all.

.
I've tried to swallow this recording for a good ten years now and i still can't take it. I like a lot of their stuff, too, but i've just never been able to understand the "why" and "what" of DN. Influential? Sure — Maybe — Don't care. Just because it's noisy?
Your review is just fine; however, the appeal of DN's shear sonic assault is pretty much the same angle most favorable reviews take, and has yet to establish any resonance of appeal onto my aural palate.
I'm not harping at all on you, and i'm sorry, i've just never understood what all the ruckus has been about, or why DN is so deserved of its accolades.

Sounds pretty good! The only thing I've ever heard by Sonic Youth before was their remake of "Superstar" by the Carpenters; and I was pretty impressed.
Swell job, as always :)
