| jetbluefan1's Full Review: Days Hotel & Conference Centre - Toronto Downtown |
Over the July 4th weekend, my family and I decided to go to Toronto. We had stayed at the Days Inn before, but we weren't impressed. Since Days Inn gave us the lowest rate, we decided we would give them another chance. The rate was $139 in Canadian which is $83.40 in American dollars.
Location The Days Inn is located on Carlton and Yonge Street. It takes up half a block, and next to it is a movie theater. It is in downtown Toronto, so it is extremely convenient to Eatons. Eatons is a five leveled mall with low prices. In Eatons, there is Roots Canada, and other high quality stores. You are able to walk there, so feel free to go anytime. It is located about five minutes from The Princess Of Wales Theater. In this theater, I viewed The Lion King, a spectacular act! The Days Inn Toronto is also a 5-10 minute drive to the CN Tower.
Parking Please don't remind me! First off, the parking is located in the back of the hotel, and is under it. So you grab a ticket after turning off Yonge Street, and then the garage opens. The lanes are on the wrong side. You drive on the left side, not the right! Then as you get down to the actual garage, there are many cars parked in the two levels. You'll see many stumps holding up the ceiling, and to also support the hotel. Therefore, if you try to park, you will probable CRASH into one of the stumps or beams. That happened to us, and it is not pleasant. It is also not pleasant at all when you try to park the car after maybe TEN tries.
Rooms The rooms aren't too nice. When we entered, we saw a very small washroom with a shower and a sink along with shampoo, and soap. There are two beds with a phone and night table in the middle. Then you see the TV right next to gigantic window from which you can see a view of the beautiful city of Toronto. The TV is on a stand, and has about 30 channels which actually work. I am impressed on how clean the room was. The maid came in every day, and made our beds, and cleaned everything!
One problem about getting to your room is how long it takes you. There are only four elevators for this hotel which has 23 stories! There is also a lobby, and two parking levels. That means that four elevators go to 26 different levels! On top of that, one of the elevators was broken, and it takes them forever to get from one level to another! Even though they are clean, they are very small and can fit only about 10 people and a few suitcases!
Staff The staff was always delightful. At check-in, the worker moved very quickly, and gave us advice on where to go, and what to see. She always was very cheerful, and so were the other staff members. She also liked to joke around, as she tried to warmly welcome us!
Days Inn Restaurant I thought the restaurant was very nice. The waiters were always professional, and always had a smile. The restaurant was very clean, but the silverware was nothing fancy. The prices were good, and so was the food! We only went there for breakfast, so that is all I can talk to you about. You could have the breakfast buffet which had scrambled eggs, home fries (DELICIOUS!), sausage, bacon, toast and butter, and muffins. Kids under 12 get the buffet free! The cost for adults is $10.99 in Canadian. On the menu, there were pancakes, omelettes, eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and waffles. I had the downtowner which included two eggs, bacon, sausage, and home fries. The prices for the meals range from $8-$12 in Canadian which is decent.
The Days Inn isn't bad, but it could be better. The food was delicious, and the maintenance and staff was good, but the rooms were non-satisfactory, and the parking just STINKS! Don't forget about the slow elevators, at Days Inn Toronto.
