hwz1's Full Review: DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Ceramic Electric Compact ...
I have never been one who is able to sleep in a warm room. My wife, on the other hand, likes it to be about 110 degrees at night. This is not a problem while we sleep as she can pile on the covers and I can avoid the covers. However, it becomes a problem when we wake up and go into the master bathroom. She freezes and I must admit that it is a little on the cold side.
We decided to solve the problem with a small heater and immediately looked to the Delonghi brand. I have had numerous good experiences with Delonghi since I was a little kid and never really considered any other brand.
The heater we chose is a fan powered heater (A very quiet fan, if you are wondering.) that is built to heat up a room the size of a normal master bathroom. Every bit as important, it is the correct size for the room. The heater weighs just three pounds and measures 10.4 x 9.8 x 7.1 inches. In other words, you can keep it under the sink when not in use and us it in a small area without kicking it all the time.
One thing we were concerned with was the safety features. We both are always running around like crazy in the morning and feared that we would end up leaving the thing on. However, the heater has an automatic shut off feature that means that if it gets too hot, it will shut off immediately and automatically. A huge plus.
Another plus is that the thing is fairly adaptable- for a heater. You can select the high setting (1500 watts) or the low setting (750 watts) and both will do a decent enough job. The high setting tends to heat the room up very quickly and almost too much. The heater can also double as a fan in the warm months. All you need to do is turn it on without the heat option selected and you have a small fan for the warmer months. Finally, the heater is also very portable. I mentioned the small size, but there is also a handle that allows you to carry it while still warm and not burning yourself in the process.
There is one feature that we never use, but that could be useful if you were to use it in a garage. The heater has a feature that will automatically turn it on when the temperature reaches 44 degrees. Again, a nice touch if using it in an area where this might happen. If our master bathroom ever gets that cold, I will be booted to the curb in a heartbeat.
The bottom line with the Delonghi DFH132 is that it does a great job and does so for a reasonable price. The unit will run you less than $20, yet operates like a heater that should be priced at two or three times that. I have no problem highly recommending this heater for small rooms.
