I received this grinder as a birthday gift in early 2003. In the year since it has ground a lot of coffee, this is what I have found.
It does not really seem to matter what grind I set the dial to, it always comes out at a grind level appropriate for automatic drip. Even when set to espresso! Not that this is an issue for me, as I use an automatic drip machine. However, others would likely care deeply about this.
Once I have had the timer "stick" and just keep grinding and grinding and
I finally realized that something was not right and stopped before the cup filled up. It has never done that again since.
The plastic cup has developed a number of cracks along the upper edge where the lid attaches. I am certain that the cup will break someday, but it has not yet!
There is a certain amount of fine coffee dust produced as a side effect of the grind, and this packs into the crevices of the lid and the sharp corners of the cup. I would prefer they redesign these moldings to have corners that would not collect this detritus.
It is a simple tool and it does a simple job. True, it is not the greatest in the world, but it is good enough for my needs.
