Cons: Toasting or Pizza warming is slow and uneven. Elements can burn you easy.
The Bottom Line: I can't recommend it. Your first requirement is to be able to provide fast heat and toasting. It failed both. The burn hazzard really bothers me.
frazicl's Full Review: DeLonghi RO2058 Toaster Oven with Convection Cooki...
I mean literally. I bought the DeLonghi RO2058 about 10 months ago after doing what I thought was a pretty thorough investigation to find a replacement for our old Black and Decker under the cabinet toaster that had done us well for years, as a toaster, warmer.
I was drawn to this oven because, number one, what I wanted was something that toasted bread and heated pizza quickly and evenly. I kept reading it would do the job. Icing on the cake was a back up casserole oven, and back up warmer during the holidays.
I like the size of the cavity and that it fit good sized pans or pizzas. It came with a variety of racks and roasting pans that provided cooking options.
As much as we've tried to like it, we've found plenty to not be happy about. It takes up a pretty good footprint on the cabinet, but we somewhat knew it would, but with the extensions in the back to keep you from pushing it too close to the wall, it stuck out more than I expected. Next noted was how hot the outside of the unit gets. Very hot on top. My wife then noticed the browning cabinets and backsplash tile turning brown from the unit's exhaust. We were really disappointed in the performance. It takes quite a while to really toast bread and warm simple pizza, our main criteria for purchasing. It two elements in the top and two in the bottom and they are spread apart and not enough to heat evenly and quickly. However, the biggest problem we found was a safety issue. Beware you don't get burned, literally. The front, especially top heating element is very exposed and conveniently placed where you'd probably push in a pan, rack or dish and touch it with the back of your hand or thumb. How do we know? It got both of us. Even after noticed it and tried to be careful, I was using a hot pot glove to pull a pan out of this oven and the glove touched the bottom exposed element and actually lit on fire before I noticed. Don't let your children operate this unit. I'm actually surprised DeLonghi hasn't be made aware of this problem.
Bottom line, as much as we want to like it, it disappoints on too many levels. We're looking again and will probably donate, sell or give this one away.
