Best Deer Repelant or Deer Fence

Written: Jun 20 '02 (Updated Jan 30 '11)
Pros:This is a enviromentaly freindly product that does a good job.
Cons:You have to apply it more than you think in my area
The Bottom Line: This is the easy way to try to protect your plants. It works good but it costs alot and you have to reapply alot.

I live in the northeast and we have large herds of deer that eat my trees and bushes. I have tried so many deer repelant products I can't remember them all. This one is safe enviromental deer fence that does a good job.

The only problem with this deer fencing product is you have to spray more often and it cost alot to keep the deer from eating everything plant in my yard.

One thing i know for sure if it is a bad winter the deer eat anything even if you spray. They sometimes get a taste for some of the deer repellents like the pepper ones and some others. The deer spray  works but you have to respray your plants to keep the deer away. Rain or snow can wash off the deer repelant and it even wears off after awhile.

The cost of the spray is costly and it must be applied constantly so it is a pain in that respect but it does slow the deer down from eating your garden. This works as good or better than most sprays and i recommend it to most people. They call this a invisable deer fence because thier is no fence to see.

I personaly have switched to using a bird mesh staked around my plants and bushes in the fall to spring for deer fencing. The deer don't bother with the plants after that because they have enough food and don't like getting close to my house. This bird net is almost invisible and works great as a deer fence to stop deer from eating my plants or bushes. It is black and very fine so you have to try hard to see it. I reuse it so the cost is mostly the first purchase of the mesh and some poles or stakes to tie it to. I put a 4 foot high section around plants and the deer don't bother with them. They can't see it and they get spooked by something touching them when they go near it.

I recommend the spray for small gardens and places where the deer are not starving or you will loose everything. The bird mesh is the best when you have a real problem with deer and i have one here. Try the bird net for deer fencing it works great if you have some serious deer problems.
