Pros: Good body, color, and flavor
Cons: Hard to find
The Bottom Line: Drink it fresh at the brewery in a one liter mug. Try the lemonade there too.

| titaniumtommy's Full Review: Degroen's Marzen |
The only way to drink Sudwerk Marzen is fresh at the brewery. I've had the bottled and fresh versions not to mention the take home keg version of this fine beverage and the bottle does it no justice. The brewery is great. There are two of them, one located in Sacramento, CA the other just minutes away in Davis, CA.
The brewery fresh version has very little bitterness and is full of body. It also has nice warm hoppy finish...almost like a wheat beer. The food at the brewery is pretty good and I know this is blasphemous, but the lemonade was amazing.
The bottled version of this beer leaves something behind (as do most bottled versions of microbrews). It's just not as rich and is somewhat more bitter. The color also seems to be a little darker.
The keg version is almost as good as the fresh version. Our keg wasn't properly cooled (iced down in a tub with the sun beating down on it in the Arizona desert is not prime beer cooling conditions), but it was still good nonetheless. Definitely worth getting the beermeister and an account with Sudwerk for the this beer!
Don't bother if you're a very light beer drinker (aka, Bud, Coors, etc.). Then again, if you are ready to step up into something that is more complex and has a serious kick to it, then give it a go.
