Cons: Needs more RAM, lengthy time required on tech support.
The Bottom Line: Definitely buy if you like on-site tech support, you don't plan to use this machine for games, and you will upgrade the RAM.

Bought a 2350 (with Celeron) for $399 (already had monitor), got "free" CD-RW upgrade. If you want a basic computer that can handle internet/email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc., this machine is an excellent buy. Not sure why the tech guy (one of the bad reviews contained herein) was so down on this computer--if you need a high end machine obviously a $399 computer will not fill the bill. Let's be honest...if a $399 computer worked as well as a $2000 computer, there would be no sales of a $2000 computer. Anyways, I have been very happy with my Dell. I use a higher end Dell at work and have been happy with that one, too.
I did have one major problem with my machine. The recording ability of the CD-RW went out very quickly (after one use). It took 2 phone calls to tech support (and about 2.5 hours of my time) for them to finally discover the obvious--the drive was bad. HOWEVER, Dell dispatched a service tech from a neighboring city (about 50 miles away) who arrived within 3 days to replace the drive, all FREE OF CHARGE!! What other company would do that on a $399 machine??????
Also, plan on upgrading the RAM. The standard 128 MB is just not enough. Go to ramjet.com or crucial.com to get the extra RAM, though (it's about half the price Dell charges for the upgrade). Installing it yourself is unbelievably easy (not a tech person? neither am I...but I had my bigger RAM installed in just a few minutes). With an additional 256 MB of RAM, this machine will perform any of the basics with sufficiently good speed.
