| clarktechie's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 2200 PC Notebook |
I was looking for a laptop to do pretty much everything. My budget was no more then $700 after all was said and done. I bought this laptop for $730 after $100 Rebate. The follow is what I have in my inspiron 2200.
Celeron M 1.4GHz
30GB Hard Drive
512 RAM (Free upgrade)
15inch Monitor ($50 upgrade)
Internal Wireless (Free upgrade)
1Year Mail-in Warranty
XP Home edition
+ Free $50 Dell Printer
I know I got a good deal
The laptop is great. It's about 6lbs which is not the best of the best but is very good. It's sleek black which is actually very corporate looking (which I am happy about). The battery lasts about 4hrs. This is pretty good actually. It doesn't have the Centrino Chip set which has processor throttling for a longer lasting battery. I'm not complaining, I would rather not have my 1.4M working at 233 MHz all the time.
Once I got the laptop I decided to wipe the drive and install my XP Pro. I was surprised to see that Dell didn't have all the drivers that I needed on there website. I contacted Dell though email and a day later everything was there! So good job Dell!
I defiantly recommend the 512Ram and 15inch monitor upgrades. I wasn't sure at first, especially about paying the $50 upgrade cost on the monitor, but it was so very worth it. It makes the laptop look way more expensive, and it's so nice to look at! I mean if you like to have a huge black boarder around your screen just get the 14.1, but if you want the laptop to actually fit its body size get the upgrade.
The only thing you would every be even a little disappointed in with this laptop is the graphics card. It plays all the games that I like from about 1-2 years ago (i.e. Sims house party) fine, but don't expect high end, this laptop is really not designed for that usage.
I was really researching Dell laptops before committing to this one. I had a budget and I thought I may get stuck having to wait since there would be no way in the world Id buy the inspiron 1000 not having a Mobile (M) processor and the nickel battery vs the L. But I didn't have to pay up the nose. I am very pleased.
Extra stuff I don't have time to touch on, but I will note:
- Great DVD Playing
- Great for running the internet and applications
- Great for mobile users
- Great for school & work
- Great tech support
- 3 USB ports!!
- 1.4M = approx 2.4 GHz
- 1MB Cache Awesome!
