| unitg2's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 2200 PC Notebook |
Well built feels solid and is very quiet. Keyboard is much improved over my previous Dell in feel and layout. Size and weight is fine for how tough it feels. System updates are thorough and easy to find and install from the Dell website. Extended warranties are reasonably priced and easy to buy when shopping online.
However, the screen is very grainy, really low quality. Compared to similarly priced Acers I have seen, its unacceptable. If I could have seen that before purchase, I wouldn't have bought it. I have heard that it might also be something to do with intel 900 graphics chip.
Wireless signal strength with the built in 1370 wireless is a joke. This is comparing it to my old Orinoco gold pcmcia card- same cafes, same tables- its about half the strength of the Orinoco. I am gonna check to see if the built in antenna is properly connected- if I even have one.
There have been some complaints about the utilities included, and true enough it comes loaded down. But I am very happy with the clean install CD I was able to burn. The wireless utility for the 1370 wireless is vastly superior to XP's built in wireless control.
Gotta be the marketing dept: the Dell quickconnect utility with its amazingly useful roaming network profiles won't enable on this laptop. bleh.
