A Horse that works like a Donkey

  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Ease of Use:
  • Quality of Tech Support:
Pros:Price, Build quality, superior speakers, Bluetooth, Wireless, robust, excellent screen
Cons:No bluetooth/Wireless ON/OFF button, Keyboard a feels a little inferior.
The Bottom Line: Best suited for Home use, pretty heavy to be a business Laptop. Lookout for the new Dual-Core Processors if you are planning to buy one.

Have used the Dell 6000 for 9 months now, it is a very good laptop. I like the choice of screens offered by Dell, WSGA, WSXGA etc. The screen is very good, the text is very clear the graphics are amazing. The widescreen is really cool, gives you miles of desktop space. If you can find the right coupons, you can get a great deal @ DELL. Make sure to wait & buy the Dual-Core processors on the new laptops.

Pros:
1. Huge 15.4 inch Widescreen, very good graphics/movie display
2. Laptop looks very good, with the silver & while, gives it a very contemporary look.
3. Pentium M Centrino Proc for under $800, that’s a steal.
4. Being a Centrino, it consumes very less power and does not heat up like the regular processors, Excellent performance.
5. Minimal heat buildup.
6. Bluetooth/Wireless B/G
7. Touch pad is perfectly sensitive, not too much - not too less.
8. Customer Support very helpful.
9. Volume control buttons.
10. Speakers are loud & are very good

Cons:
1. Laptop can be a little heavy, but then you have a 15.4 inch screen
2. Battery life (6 cell) is poor, will last for just 1:40 mts. Expected more (maybe because of the 15.4 inch screen)
3. No Bluetooth/wireless power ON/OFF button, have to go through the Windows menus.
4. Keyboard seems a little cheap, could do better.

Overall this is a good laptop, love it. But there is one point to consider about the screen, I go the Inspiron 6000 for the 15.4 inch screen. It looks & feels great. The screen being so big, it gets pretty heavy and is really difficult carrying it around as a business laptop. Now I use this as a home Laptop, and stick to a 14.1 inch Latitude D610.

This Laptop is a great Home Laptop, you will love it. There is a new breed of laptops with Dual Core Processors, I would suggest buying one with that, it makes a hell lot of performance difference.
