Dell 1705. A Horrible Experience

Pros: It looked nice when I unwrapped it.

Cons: Support is the worst. Hardware experienced major errors after only three weeks.

The Bottom Line: I will never buy a Dell again and if you are considering Dell, make sure to do your research. There is better.

I purchased a Dell 1705 one month ago. Within the first three weeks my computer froze up while preparing to standby. After powering down and powering back up the computer presented an error: 'c:\windows\system32\config\system'. That night I spent five (5) hours on the phone with Dell hardware support only to be told by hard drive was bad and it needed to be replaced, by me no less. As it turns out with a google search on that error term and a little hard work I was able to fix the problem the next day, and I am by no means a computer guy.

Since this incident I have spent an additional 5-10 hours on the phone with Dell support and customer service. None of my conversations with Dell have been customer friendly nor has the technical support associate seems knowledgeable.

If you are under the belief that Dell has superior products and/or superior customer service, think again. I have had nothing by poor experiences with Dell. Although hardware errors will happen, when they do you hope to be in bed with a company that cares for the customer. If this is what you want, Dell is NOT the company for you.
