The Bottom Line: If there are no more backlight problems, the I'd say, this is a great monitor to have, better than the 24" 2407wfp or the 30" 3007wfp in my opinion.

I got this monitor as an upgrade to my former 24" Dell 2405fpw. The 2707wfp is better in terms of color, contrast, and response time and overall very usable - standard fonts are very legible and not too small thanks to the generously sized pixels (0.30 mm), and yet the high 1920x1200 resolution allows for a lot of detail in CAD or gaming, without putting too much strain on your graphics card. The size of the monitor also allows me to place it 3 feet away towards the rear of the desk and still work with it comfortably. Overall, I really like it.
There are a few minor gripes. One is that the built-in multi-format flash card reader, while great to have, is not perfect. I don't understand why it still permanently occupies 4 drive letters in Windows explorer, even though there are only 2 physical slots. This should be better managed, i.e. no drive letter at all unless media is inserted, or only one drive letter for the combo slot.
Another gripe is that the monitor occasionally creaks and makes noises as if you slowly ball up sheet of aluminum foil. This happens when the monitor has just been turned on, or after you shut it off. Also, the bezel creaks in a similar manner if you grab it, for example to re-adjust the monitor position. Overall, the Aluminum case is nice, but you'd expect a higher build quality.
Also, last week, after about 3 months of usage, the backlight began to flicker severely and irregularly, also causing the display and card reader (in windows explorer) to go haywire intermittently. This happens especially when the brightness is set above 60%. I had no problem arranging for a replacement from Dell, but still, this is the first time an LCD monitor has actually failed on me.
Overall its still a very good piece of equipment - I really think that the larger 30" monitors with 2560*1600 pixels have too small a pixel pitch (0.25 mm) for comfortable working. Let's just hope the backlight problem is an isolated incident.
