| thebrit100's Full Review: Delta 16" Scroll Saw 40-530 |
I was looking for a scroll saw for occasional use in my garage workshop, i chose the coldest time of the year to relegate the car outside! I dont need a high capacity unit with all the bells and whistles, just need it for occasional woodworking, cutting complex curves etc.
The unit arrived packed very well, with logical easy to follow instructions and all the necessary tools, Delta do a great job of this.
The unit has a heavy cast iron base and table. The table can be pivoted for angled cuts, up to 45 degrees. the unit is generally easy to put together following the instructions given, the only difficult part was connecting the air hose, i recommend dipping it in a cup of hot water to make it pliable, goes on much better.
Mine arrived with the nozzle broken off the air pump bellows, Delta did a great job replacing it, just follow the instructions given and call them. This is vulnerable as its on top of the unit, on other models they have relocated it.
As to performance it did just what i wanted it to do, cuts curves and intricate shapes beautifully, if you have an occasional use then this is the unit for you. If you will be doing a lot of work or intricate intarsia then i would look at another model.
