Eberron
land of mystery, wonder, excitement
A Dungeon Masters screen is an accessory to Dungeons & Dragons designed to give the Dungeon Master (DM: the person who runs the game) some privacy for notes, miniatures, dice, etc., while providing a handy set of look-up tables for quick reference.
Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy role-playing game that uses dice, rules, and imagination to give players and exciting journey for their characters. The rules-systems can often time be complex, hard to locate, or not easily memorized, so a product such as this that puts the most common tables in front of you is a good deal.
Eberron is a specific campaign-world for games and thus has some unique information that a standard D&D game does not. This product contains some Eberron-specific tables (dragonmarked houses, guilds, and the Eberron calendar) that help cut down on the number of books required to search for information. This information, plus the general rules information provided, helps to keep the flow of the game going, as the DM has information at a glance, instead of halting the game while the information is looked up in the rule boks.
The Eberron Deluxe Dungeon Masters Screen is used with Dungeons & Dragons 3.5. It is a four-paneled, landscaped-oriented, cardboard fold-out with art by Wayne Reynolds on one side and the tables on the other. The landscape-orientation is great as it allows the screen to easily stand on the gaming table without getting knocked over, but isnt so high that it covers the head of the DM when they sit down.
It was released in July of 2005.
For the Players
The side facing the players is a Wayne Reynolds battle-scene with some Eberron specifics in it. I like it, but Im not horribly impressed by it.
For the DM
Over 25 commonly used easy-reference tables are on the DMs side of the screen. They contain not only the information required, but a book and page reference should you wish to look up the rules in the appropriate book. That is a nice touch.
The tables include: hardness and hit-point rules for items, weapons, walls, etc., Items affected by magical attacks, doors, turning undead, attack roll modifiers, missing with a thrown weapon, dragonmarks, armor class modifiers, climb check DCs, listen check DCs, influencing NPC attitudes, actions, skills, concentration check DCs, Eberron calendar, movement rules,
All-in-all, it is a pretty good set of tables, but I would rather have seen more combat related tables then some of these that I almost never use.
Bonus: Detailed map of Khorvaire
If you are a fan of Eberron, then this fold-out map alone is worth purchasing this product. The map is of the primary continent of Khorvaire and contains political borders, lightning-rail routes, and more detail then in any previous map. This is a must have!
Final Thoughts
For any DM running Eberron, this product is a must have. From the nice Eberron-specific tables, to the awesome map, this is a great product!
