I purchased this at ABT electronics (great store, just ask and the salespeople give they will give you a discount, Although I don’t have experience with them online) about 2 months ago.
Set it up as the centerpiece of my Home Theater. Connected is the HTDV/DirecTV receiver w Dolby digital, progressive scan Toshiba 4700 DVD Dolby & DTS, older Sony 5 disk cd changer, my son's play station 2, Hitachi 53" HDTV monitor.
It works great! Does have lots of connections, an easy to read manual and is powerful enough to drive all my speakers to volumes that I will never use.(maybe the kids will) When I play a DVD that is DTS encoded, I do not have to change any settings. The receiver will pick up that the signal is Digital and tell me (via LED) if it is playing back in DTS or Dolby.
The only negative is the remote control! This is so bad that it is actually funny. So many little buttons that you can never hit the one you are looking for the first time. Instead of a power button, this remote uses separate on/off buttons.
All things considered, it works great and previous Denon products that I have owned never broke, they were simply upgraded. So I choose this model because of my good experiences with Denon. Rather than looking for a similar model with a remote I like by a company that I may not trust.
I would recommend this to anyone, just be prepared to program your TV remote (as I have) to adjust the Denon 1802 volume.
