Pros: Sound quality, turntable input, range of features
Cons: A little under powered for old analog media
The Bottom Line: This mid range receiver has excellent sound quality, good features and impressive build. Set up and modifications mean back to the manual, but ongoing use is fine.

| wilsontcs's Full Review: Denon AVR-1802 5.1 Channels Receiver |
Right after I got my Denon DVD player and was able to experience 5.1 sound for the first time through my Onkyo receiver, the Onkyo took a power hit. The repair or buy new conundrum didn't last long. Based on the fact I had just bought a Denon DVD I investigated the Denon receivers and bought this one.
I immediately heard a sound quality improvement over my Onkyo. It also features Dolby Pro Logic II, which is a distinct advance over it predecessor. It has all the required I/O you need today along with digital optical out and some front panel inputs.
Set up as always with these new generation receivers is a chore. But once accomplished it's a smart machine and holds setup well. It works intelligently with the Denon DVD passing format data back and forth. I send all analog through the Dolby PL II filter with good results. TV audio I use the Matrix filter on and get excellent "in room" results.
Funny last point. Although the Onkyo is history, its remote is not. I reprogrammed it with both Denon remotes for the receiver and the DVD. It's a much better all-in-one.
