I purchased the AVR-1802 approximately one year ago. In that time, I have had the chance to become pretty familiar with the receiver.

First, and foremost, in my consideration when buying this unit was a personal bias in favor of the brand, Denon. It won't take much research in the audio world to discover that I am not alone. Denon has a solid reputation for producing high-quality A/V equipment. I have found the AVR-1802 to be no exception.
The AVR-1802 is an inexpensive unit that provides most of the desirable features of todays A/V receivers. About the only compromises that I can list are that the unit has a modest amplifier section (80 watts/RMS) and that it lacks the 6.1 or 7.1 surround processors that are becoming more prevalent. Depending on your needs and interests, these things may not even be factors.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the features that the receiver does have. Of most note is the quality of the Dolby Pro Logic II processor. Some receivers I have heard with this feature have produced poor rear channel effects (rear channel signal not powerful enough, poor stereo imaging.) The Denon, however, delivers a very crisp signal. Pro Logic II has become one of my favorite formats for music.
A lot has been said about the poor design of the remote control for this receiver. While I agree that Denon blew it on this remote, I can honestly say that I have become very accustomed to it's quirky lay-out.
In summary, my opinion is that the AVR-1802 is a very good inexpensive receiver. I have not regretted my purchase for a single moment.
