When you say, "Keep in mind that Denon's authorized dealers don't do business on the internet..." you're being way too general. There are a handful of authorized Denon dealers on the internet, like Crutchfield. Though you still pay a premium for shopping from an authorized dealer, it's a safe bet as you say.
