Desitin has been around for a long, long time. How do I know this? Well, I was a desitin baby over two decades ago. My mother swore by the stuff.

See, I was one of the poor babies that couldn't handle anything. Not only did I have digestive problems, I had sensitive skin and sensitive body systems. I was constantly breaking out in rashes, especially with fruits. I had LOW tolerance of citrus. Give me juice, I give you a rash to cure, plain and simple.

My pediatrician recommended Desitin to my mom. Once she tried it and saw how effective it was on me, she never stopped using it in our family. It was the miracle balm!

Desitin contains ZINC OXIDE which dries up dampness and aides in healing of rashes and breakouts. It has a fairly fast rate of turnaround, meaning that ugly, nasty rash can be gone rather quickly, only a few applications later!

Desitin is a thick substance and is hard to wipe off. I've found it best to soak baby in luke warm water before removing it and OF COURSE, don't use baby wipes! Whatever rash has just left will be back for sure! Desitin cakes on, but you must be sure not to wipe it off to harshly or baby will be in sheer misery!

Desitin can run around $4 to $5 a tube, depending on whether you have coupons, it's on sale, or what size you get. I find that it's good to buy in bulk once baby arrives. You will never want to run out of this stuff. It's that good.

I've never tried Balmex or any of the others, at least not yet, so I can't compare Desitin to it. All I know is my mother swore by it, I used it with my nephew and when I was baby sitting and I swear by it too. I won't treat a diaper rash with anything else. Neither should you!
