daisuke69's Full Review: Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet
This is a nice helmet when it comes to heavy duty punishment. the plastic it made of gives you security that nothing is going to perforate your skull unless a meteor falls on you since it like wearing armor. the patch of dense styrafoam under the top part also ensures extra protection if something big does hit you.
I bought this helmet for lead climbing and eventually trad climbing although I only sport climb now. I've used it on and off and appreciate the fact that it has retaining points for the straps of a headlamp, I've used it that way with no discomfort whatsoever
on the bad side it's a heavy helmet and jostles around on my head, if I pull the strap tight it cuts into my throat and bothers me, but that just be because of my anatomy and might not bother others so much. I have the same problem with almost every other helmet I've ever tried on. It also quite hot in summer weather and I avoid putting it on then unless I need to, at least you dont have to buy hole stoppers for extra money to keep warm in winter unlike other helmets out there. good for ice climbing!
All things said aside... this helmet looks a whole lot better than most other egg shaped things I've seen. and while that doesn't make it technically better than any other helmet, it's already good enough to tackle the competition so the looks department is just an extra plus
