The Bottom Line: If you want to gamble, go ahead and get this card. If you want to be sure, I would suggest the Sound Blaster.

I got this sound card because of a glowing review in PCGamer. I was also buying the best speakers I could so I could get the most out of this sound card. My old sound card wouldn't play two sounds at once, so I couldn't run some programs, such as Roger Wilco. I decided that this sound card was the way to go. That was the worst mistake I have made in buying computer hardware.
Features
This card runs off of the Aureal Vortex-2 sound chip, and provides good 3D sound with it. It includes input from stereo line input, CD, auxiliary devices, and modem, while having connectors for MIDI/Joystick Game Port, wavetable header, and the MX25, a daughtercard that you can upgrade you sound card with. This sound card was much better than the one I previously had, but it should have worked properly, considering the $100 I had to pay for it.
Problems
I have had problems with this sound card since I got it. First the A3D has never worked, and the tech support didn't help me when I questioned them. I tried re-installing the drivers, updating them, and a couple of other things, but nothing would make it work. I've known a couple of other people that bought this card that had the same problem. Also, the sound card is not always reliable. It stopped working for about a week, and I heard no sound on my computer. Luckily I fixed it right before I was about to reformat my hard drive. The tech support never really has helped me, though they did respond to all my questions fairly quickly.
Recommendations
This card has worked for most of the people who bought it, but there are more people that have a lot of problems with this card then there should be. I suggest getting the Sound Blaster Live, it has excellent sound quality as well, with less problems.
