noangels's Full Review: Digipower BP-CN4L Battery for PowerShot SD200, SD3...
I purchased the Digipower BP-CN4L Battery for my Canon Powershot Elph SD 600. I have since purchased two additional ones as spares. Here's why:
Battery Life
I have used this battery for about four months in my SD 600 on almost every setting possible. During a lightening storm I had the camera on a burst mode or continuous shot at 2.1 frames per second with the flash off and the screen on and I was able to shoot over 700 shots on one charge. I can only speak from experience since battery life is dependent on so many factors. High speed memory cards, such as San Disk's Ultra II memory cards, (which I use) increase battery life. Using a flash will drain battery. The screen is also a big drain on the battery. Reviewing the pictures for lengthy periods in between shots in another battery killer. I have gotten as few as 240 pictures on the battery so it will depend on the usage. I can say that I have noticed that these batteries last longer than the included Canon NB-4L battery. The package does state that the battery will last up to 320 pictures although there is an asterick noting that it varies upon usage.
Compatibility
This battery is compatible with the following Canon Powershot Elph SD series cameras: SD 200, SD 300, SD 400, SD 450, SD 600, SD 630 and SD 1100IS.
Price
The cost of this battery was $39.99 at Best Buy. I found the price to be a little much although this is the price I have seen the battery run in most retailers. I thought it should be a little cheaper considering its not even a Canon battery.
Tech Specs
The battery is 3.6 volts and 790 mAh. The standard Canon NB-4L battery is 3.7 volts and 760 mAh.
Charging
In my experience, the Canon rapid charger takes a little over an hour to charge this battery. I keep one of these batteries in my camera and two charged in my camera bag at all times and I've never run into a situation where I have no battery. I charge them once every month (if I don't use them) or when they run out of battery life. I found that they hold a charge well. They lose very little charge over the course of a month when just sitting in my camera bag.
I recommend these batteries to anyone who has a supported Elph series camera. They are long lasting and reliable. I have now had the camera for over four months and while my Canon battery is starting to last shorter periods of time (it often discharges must sooner than it should for a new battery), this one is working fine. I will update when one of them finally does need to be replaced.
