Pros: It sort of gets the job done
Cons: makes it hard to use the wheel
The Bottom Line: I need to get something different. This isn't working for me.

I use an Ipod Nano (2nd gen) at the gym when I workout on the machines and so I bought this case for it to both protect it and let me wear it hands-free. When I went to the store to pick up a case/armband they didn't have a lot of selection so this was pretty much what I was stuck buying. I payed at least $20 for this at Target and remember thinking that I felt like I was ripped off.
About this Action Jacket
This is a black neoprene case made for the Ipod Nano from DLO. They make it in different colors and for different Ipods, also. Given my choice I am not sure if I would have picked black (maybe I would have gotten pink) but black it was that day. Sigh.
Here's the manufacturer description:
The DLO Action Jackets are the ultimate case for the active iPod owner. Exercise with your iPod and to the beat of your music. Take your iPod with you wherever you go using the workout armband or rotating belt clip. Whatever kind of iPod you have, DLO has an Action Jacket that will fully protect the iPod Nano during any activity. Action Jackets are stylish, padded cases that feature a play-thru design so you never have to remove your iPod to get to its controls.
Good Stuff
I like the idea of having my Ipod protected during my workouts and keep it on my body. The Nano is so tiny that I'm afraid of losing it or it getting stolen, so this is important to me. With this case (action jacket) I can either wear it with the elastic arm band or I can use the belt clip on my waist band of my pants. I like having the option of either one depending on my outfit and also what kind of workout I'm doing. For example if I'm on the treadmill, it works best on my arm but if I'm using the weights then I want to have it clipped to my waist.
Not So Good Stuff
My biggest pet peeve about this action jacket is that the so-called "Play Thru" design is not truly "Play Thru". The clear plastic screen on the front of it which is supposed to give me access to my click-wheel is a major nuisance. So, if I'm listening to something and want to make any changes I can't just get it done without it being a big effort. While I can understand that there's a layer of plastic that I'm working with over the click-wheel, I'd expect that it at least works. But, for me, it doesn't. I press on it and nothing happens. So I press again with a bit more pressure and this time I've overcompensated. ACK! This makes simple things like changing the volume or flipping to the next song in the playlist very frustrating because I have to do things multiple times before I get what I actually want done. If I'm on a treadmill and want to just tap forward I want to be able to do it without having to take my ipod off my arm and look at it while I fight to change the track that I'm on. I'm tempted to remove the clear plastic so that the click wheel is exposed, but then where's the protection?
My other "issue" with this action jacket is that to use it as an armband you are just clipping it (with the belt clip) onto an elastic that you velcro around your arm. This is not the most stable solution and I have images of my Nano going flying across the room and breaking. (Call me paranoid!).
Last but not least, why are these so expensive? The MSRP is $29.99. My gut was right that day when I bought this that I was getting ripped off! I need to find a better solution because this case frustrates me!
