Every household needs a thermometer. It does not matter if you have kids or not. I really think that for the money (less than $2 at Walmart), this digital thermometer is a winner. The digital thermometer is easy to use. You can either place the thermometer under the arm or in the mouth. One could use it in the rectum as well, but I have never used it for this. Within a short time (about 30 to 35 seconds), you get a fast and acurate reading. You will know that it is done registering the temperature because there will be a series of beeps. Since the price on these thermometers is so small you will want to stock up. I keep one in the medicine cabinet, and have an extra on hand just in case the other would quit on me. So far it has not, so it is long lasting. YOu could also keep one in the car, the camper, at the babysitters, and one in the diaper bag if you needed to. Or even your purse since it is pretty small. After every use you should wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before putting the lid back on it. This will eliminate many germs.
