sbachilo's Full Review: Digital Video Systems Plenio VXA-3000 Car GPS Rece...
GPS became very popular, and Korean DVS (a maker of CD tray readers) jumped in this stream too. VXA-3000 could be a good product, unless it would require software and a slightly better quality of electronics. The first one I tried has died after two days - did not power anymore. The second one works already for about a half year, and might work more. Its software (Smart-to-Go based) is not so bad in navigation. It is stubborn sometimes (a few times did not correctly change the total way when I decided to go by another highway), but is acceptable.
Other software options are much worse. Sensitivity seems to be good, but start is usually slow even under a clear sky; Plenio can wait for a few miles before starting. Software GUI is inconvenient, and deleting an address is not easy to distinguish from navigation to it. It never showed correct elevation, switching from near 0 to the max 32 bit value (well beyond the Moon). POI search has never found anything closer than a few hundred miles from my place (one of the largest cities in the USA), so, was never used. So, the software is not complete. The manufacture promised a prompt update; a level of support is clear from a fact that just a few days ago, in the middle of May, update was still promised to be available in March. As today, free corrections are not promised anymore, but, instead, it will come as a rather expensive update for sale. The manufacture is likely does not understand, that standard warranty must include at least a year, and provide correction for money withing a few months after sale is not a way to attract buyers. Fortunately, most of us can return in within a year. My one is from Costco, and most other places will take it back too, simply, without POI you can call it defective.
It looks like Plenio is a dead-born line. It is a product for a month, and after that the manufacture drops support and propose a new one, obviously for a month too.
