Cons:Filter needs to be maintained, small inside area
The Bottom Line: The Dirt Devil Bagless Cordless Hand Vacuum helps keep junk out of my daughter's mouth.
I asked my husband to pick up a Dirt Devil Bagless Cordless Hand Vacuum cleaner so I could more easily clean up small messes. My daughter is like a vacuum cleaner now, she will eat whatever she finds on the floor! It is not easy to pull out our whole large vacuum all the time because of all the furniture and toys that are out. I figured the Dirt Devil would be helpful for in-between regular vacuuming.
The Dirt Devil Handheld Vacuum charges via wall plug and then is ready to use anytime I need it. I currently just leave it on a chair in the living room because it seems like there are daily messes. My daughter always finds lint, dropped cheerios, and all kinds of other things that we never noticed before. I do wish that the vacuum came with some kind of stand or charging station. It would be nice to have a place to set it because if I throw it in a closet, I will likely misplace the plug.
The Dirt Devil is strong enough to suck up cheerios and other small things that find their way to the floor, but it won't do a good deep dive on your carpet. That's not what it is meant for so I am fine with that. The front part extends to get into crevices so it has been nice to clean out the cracks of the couch, her high chair and other areas that don't usually get much attention. It's very easy to use and lightweight.
I empty out the vacuum after every use because it does seem to fill up quickly. The inside area is small so it's not meant to hold a ton of garbage. It's easy to empty out. Just press the two side buttons and dump into a garbage can. Hair often gets stuck in there so I just pull that out real quick and wash my hands after. The filter looked dirty after the very first use! But I didn't clean it right away and it still worked fine. I think the dilter is just so sparkling white that dust and lint from my carpet made it look dirty right away.
The Dirt Devil Bagless Vacuum does not replace a real vacuum by any means, but it is great for the in-between time when you don't want to pull out the real vacuum. Cleaning up small messes is a breeze and sometimes I even just walk the floor looking for things my daughter my try to eat. It's worth it to have around just for this purpose alone. I would recommend it to anyone with kids!
