I purchased My first bagless stick vacuum By Dirt Devil two years ago on Black Friday for $9.00. I have two dogs that rarely shed, but constantly track things in front their walks. I needed something that was lightweight and easy to clean up behind them and my husband on an every day basis. Here are some of my thoughts on different aspects of this vacuum.
Specs: 1 year limited warranty, which I have never used, so I dont know exactly what it covers. 16ft cord, which seems long, but I sometimes found myself wishing it was longer so I could get more done at a time.
Weighs Only 3.8 Pounds
Design: This Is a great design as far as assembly. It is as simple as snapping a couple pieces together and making sure the front lever is locked, keeping the dust buster portion attached to the stick vac. The stick portion of the vacuum has a locking mechinism and it can easily release if too much pressure is pressed on the stick portion, so be careful. The bagless dust buster is a great thing because nobody wants to deal with the bags and dust. This is a simple release and dump, then reattach to the vacuum and go again. The dust buster portion is made of a cheap plastic and with my first one, it broke while trying to get some stuck dirt out of the canister, but for $9.00, I did not mind so much.
How does it clean?: I did use this on carpeting once or twice when I didnt feel like pulling out the big vacuum, but it does not do a great job and I would not use it on carpeting where I was trying to get something specific out. It seems to only get the top surface and is hard to even push over the carpeting without a lot of force. I find it is much better on tile and wood, as it glides right over and quickly gets the dirt up. I love the "pole" mechinism it comes with that attaches to the dust buster section. I have "low" cathedrial ceilings, and even with a small step stool, am just shy of reaching the crevices to clean at the top. This tool allows me to do the job in between deep house cleanings.
Conclusion: In my opinion, even at the normal $20.00 this is a great value. I keep this in the garage and quickly use it each and every day for things such as spilled sugar in the kitchen or dirt tracked in from the yard. Do not expect to do your spring cleaning with this, or even use it as your "serious" cleaner, but it works to keep a tidy house each day so that the house work does not get away from you. Overall, I would recommend this to someone that has light every day cleaning, but not someone with big messes or dogs that shed a great deal, as I dont think this would do that great of a job on those types of jobs.
