Disney's Alice in Wonderland Figure Set- Solid Toys in a Lacking Theme

Written: Jun 27, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:sturdy, small enough to fit in dollhouses
Cons:pricey, can be hard to find
The Bottom Line: Great toy set, if you can find it!

The Alice in Wonderland cartoon is often watched in my home.  It doesn’t seem like Alice is actually considered a Disney Princess so I don’t often see toys with her theme while out and about shopping.  I did however come across this set of figures at the Disney Store and bought them hoping that they would be played with and loved by the little person in my family.

The Alice in Wonderland 6 piece figure includes figures of Alice, The Mad Hatter, The Red Queen, Tweedle Dum and Tweedledee, White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat. Disney.com says of this product, “A world of your own awaits with our Alice in Wonderland Figurine Play Set. This Alice toy set includes everything you need to bring the classic tale to life, including a Mad Tea Party backdrop plus Alice, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and more!”

The figures are about 3 inches in height and made out of sturdy pvc.  When I say sturdy I mean that they are made out of solid plastic and have some weight to them.  The bases of each figure are flat enough so that each one stands own its own.

The figures are very colorful and very true to the classic Disney movie of the same name.  Alice has her iconic blue pinafore dress with black ballet shoes and a bow.  I have no complaints with any of the figures except for the Cheshire Cat, which is standing a very strange pose.  He’s up on one leg or his tail and it looks awkward and not a pose I remember being in the movie.  The March Hare or White Rabbit as I refer to him, has great detail.  He is holding out an oversized pocket watch and has a worried look on his face.  I can almost just hear him wailing about being late for an important date.  The Queen is also very detailed as she is holding her arms up with a furious look on her face.  Tweedledum and Tweedledee aren’t particularly special, although the Mad Hatter does have a silly grin on his face.

This set was $11.99 at the Disney store and I have only seen them at a few Disney stores.  Disneyland has many more Alice themed toys near the Teacups but the actual stores seem to lack them, at least in my area.

I like that this set is incredibly solid making them durable for play time.  My daughter plays with them on her train table and in her dollhouse, their 3 inch height makes them easily fit with a lot of her other toy sets.   So far we have experience no paint chipping on these figures and they get played with on a regular basis.  Their size makes them easy to misplace though so we have a dedicated basket to figures like these.  Overall I think it was a great toy set that we will years of play out of.
