Pros: Kid-friendly packaging, smells good, helps protect lips, inexpensive
Cons: Not great at healing lips that are badly chapped
In my dreams, I could be a Princess, and that's what I was. Like most little girls, I believed nothing less than a Prince could make my dreams come true.
Sleeping Beauty Woke Up With Chapped Lips
My (soon to be) five year old daughter goes to preschool every day. One of the many things I like about her school is that the children play outside every day (often twice a day). If the temperature is one degree above freezing, out they go with their mittens, hats, coats and never-ending energy. As a result, now that winter is upon us, I've noticed that Emily's lips have been a bit dry.
Mr. Chillie was recently in CVS with my daughter and came upon Disney Chapstick Lip Balm Princess 2-Pack. She always talks us into buying her something when she accompanies us to the store, and this occasion was no exception. She was anxious to try this product because the packaging showed two of the Disney Princesses - Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Emily loves the Disney Princesses so this was right up her alley.
Princess ChapStick AND Stickers!
When you open the package of Disney Chapstick Lip Balm Princess 2-Pack, you notice that there are 2 tubes of ChapStick. One of the tubes is pink with a picture of Sleeping Beauty on it and has a Dreamy Cherry flavor. The other tube is blue with a picture of Cinderella and has a Midnight Blueberry flavor. They both smell pleasant - sort of like candy. If that was not enough princess excitement for one day, the package also includes several princess stickers for your child to stick in inappropriate places in your home. Just kidding - she loved the stickers, and it was a nice touch.
If Emily was reviewing this product, she would give it five stars. She loves the flavors and the princesses on the packaging. She also loves using it before school and even packs it in her backpack. I have noticed that her lips have been less dry since using this. That being said, while I like this product, I don't love it.
The tubes of ChapStick are easy to use. You just have to turn the bottom in order to get more of the product to come out the top. If you turn it too much, too much comes out, and it is likely to break. I also noticed that it sometimes get stuck in the cap and can break off fairly easily. All of this is pretty status quo as far a ChapStick goes in my experience.
The colors, though vibrant in the tubes, did not "stain" or color Emily's lips. That is big plus for me because I don't want my preschooler walking around with blue or red lipstick on!
There was a point recently when Emily's lips were a bit more chapped, and it was becoming painful for her. Disney Chapstick Lip Balm Princess 2-Pack did not heal the chapping on her lips. We had to use something a bit stronger. Because this does not happen often, we are fine with using Disney Chapstick Lip Balm for more everyday usage. I would recommend this product as a preventative measure against chapping and dryness. I would not recommend it to heal a severe set of chapped lips -----Regardless of what Prince Charming might say!

Hint from Chillieland:
They would probably eat it because the midnite blueberry and dreamy cherry smell like candy!
If the condition worsens or persists for more than 7 days, you should consult your doctor.
Disney Chapstick Lip Balm Princess 2-Pack is intended for external use only. In effect, just put it on your lips for heaven's sake!
Perhaps I am the only one these things happen to, but I managed to put one of these through the washing machine. What a mess! My little one put one of these in her pants pocket, and I didn't notice before I did a load of laundry. While nothing was ruined, it took forever to get this stuff out of my laundry. The red chapstick was everywhere! I don't blame the product for this, as it was entirely my fault, but I'd like to believe that I am not the only busy mom who washes stuff she doesn't mean to. So....be warned! :)
Where Can I Buy It & How Much?
We got this at CVS for $2.99. ChapStick lasts a while as long as my daughter doesn't destroy it and I don't wash it, so I thought the price (about 1.50 per tube) was reasonable. You can also buy this on CVS.com if you'd like. They sell larger quantities at Amazon.com if you'd like to keep an arsenal of ChapStick in your home!
I like Disney Chapstick Lip Balm Princess 2-Pack, and my daughter loves it. It's better as a preventative measure to keep lips moist; it doesn't work as well on severely chapped lips. The Disney Princess packaging and cool "flavors" are also a plus. Also, be sure not to wash it :)
