My favorite cartoon growing up was Tom and Jerry: little dialogue and lots of physical comedy. Lucky for me my kids have higher expectations for their entertainment needs since their favorite cartoon is the Little Einsteins. This cartoon reaches them on every level imaginable. It introduces classical music, art, and landmarks wrapped up in a story involving the cutest four little characters on TV. All they have to do is hear the lilting opening credits music and they come running from all directions. They also get to participate as the characters ask them questions and leave wait time for an answer. Because of this cartoon, Mozart and Monet are household names as is the Golden Gate Bridge. I've never seen animation quite like this; it combines the cartoon like images with real life images like the Great Wall of China. The result is an intelligent and stimulating show. It's one of the few cartoons I don't worry about what bad habits my kids might pick up as a result. In fact, I watch it with them so we can talk about it or do further research. There is always a positive message wrapped up in all this information which makes it a very enriching animated program.
